The journey to parenthood isn’t like what we see on Instagram.

On our phones, people get pregnant right away, the baby is healthy, and everyone is fine, if a little sleep-deprived. Perfectly staged and edited photos make new parenthood seem cozy and full of sun-drenched moments of bliss.

But reality can look much different.

Maybe you’ve had recurrent miscarriages, or a TFMR- or maybe your birth was more scary than special. Maybe everything went well until the baby was here, and now it feels like your entire world has been turned upside down.

Friends, family, or even your partner don’t understand what you’re going through, and you find yourself wondering whether this whole parenthood thing was a mistake. Isn’t this supposed to be a joyful time in your life?

If this sounds familiar, I can relate- I’ve been there too.

Hi, I’m Abigail

I’m a therapist who specializes in perinatal mental health, with particular emphasis on trauma and grief/loss, including TFMR.

I use a combination of creative therapies to address the things that just can’t be put into words. If you work with me, we’ll utilize art, music, writing, imagery, poetry, and storytelling to explore your experience. But don’t worry, there will be talking too!

When you’re ready to book a free consultation, click the button below to send me an email- you should receive a response within 24 hours.

I am able to provide teletherapy to residents of Alberta and Nova Scotia.

All Families Welcome

The parenting sphere can be an unwelcoming place for families who may not fit the heteronormative mold. I believe that the parenting journey is challenging, painful, beautiful, stressful, magical, and unique to each individual. My practice is LGBTQIA2S+ friendly and inclusive of all genders/identities.

Anti-Racism Statement

I am dedicated to working from an anti-oppressive and anti-racist perspective. I acknowledge that systemic racism exists and that it often creates barriers to accessing mental health support. If you are part of a marginalized community, please ask me about the availability of lower-rate sessions.
